Excursions to Budva by bus

BudvaBudva is a coastal town in Montenegro. The coastal area around Budva, called the Budvanska rivijera, is the centre of Montenegro's tourism, and is well known for its sandy beaches, diverse nightlife, and beautiful examples of Mediterranean architecture.
Budva is 2,500 years old, which makes it one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic sea coast.

Sveti StefanWe starting around 10 a.m. from Montenegro Apartments complex and drive through Kotor bay. At 12 p.m. we passing Budva and go to Saint Stephen island. In the 15th century the island was a fishermen's village. In the 1950s the last residents of the village were evicted, and Saint Stephen was transformed into a luxury town-hotel. It is the most exclusive resort on Montenegro's coast.

Sveti Stefan was popular among celebrities, and among its guests were Marilyn Monroe, Willy Brandt, Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky, Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, Monica Vitti, Ingemar Stenmark, Kirk Douglas, Jonathan Miller and Claudia Schiffer.

About 2 p.m. we have organized lunch in restaurant "Evropa". Budva Old TownAfter that you can enjoy and shop in Old Town of Budva or goto swim on 1.600 meter long Slovenska beach. It was declared a beach from as early as 1920, and the Czechs who spent their summer holidays in Budva in 1935 gave it its present name Slovenska Plaža. It is a pebble beach, and has a large hotel complex of the same name at its backside. Budva's main promenade, where most of the nightlife and shopping takes place, goes alongside this beach.

Budva Old TownThe Old Town in Budva has many different tales and stories of its origin. Scholars and Historians believe it to be originally an island, which later joined the shore to form a sand isthmus. The Old Town, along with the city of Budva was said to have been discovered by a Greek sailor by the name of Boutoua. Eventually the Roman Empire took over the whole Montenegrin coast influencing it greatly.

Much of the architecture in the Old Town is of Venetian origin. Budva Old TownDoors, hinges, windows, balconies and many other small but noticeable things seem to hold the Roman style of the Republic of Venice. There are also three main churches in the old town. The first is St. Ivan's which was built in the 7th century AD, second St. Mary's of Punta dating from 840 and the third, The Holy Trinity, which was built in 1804. The venetian walls of the Old town are a famous tourist attraction.
